Knowing that today would be the final one at Area 51 for our guests, we were intent on making it a memorable day and ventured our after playing in the backyard and meals for a medium-long walk on the Iron Horse Trail that brought the dogs face to face with themselves as well as pit stops for human refreshment at Peet’s and Alamo Cafe. Our crew turned heads everywhere they went and maintained (and provided) big smiles across the board.
After our walk, it was time for some pampering at the Doggy Dayspa Department. Bella and Dexter were all too happy to enjoy their bubble bath and fluff and dries. The maintenance team were quick to follow and clear all drains of the pounds of hair that Bella had shedded.
Bella was exhausted and wanted to nap for a while, but the other three were up for adventure, so we ventured to a friend’s house for a little pool and cornhole time as a last activity before Bella and Dex would be returning home to their family on Bay Street.
And so it was that the kitchen staff prepared a last meal for our pups and the chauffeur freshened up and loaded the precious cargo of animals and supplies back into the bus around 7pm. It was a smooth ride back to Alameda and much to this writer‘s surprise, Stretch began to sing with a new excited voice and extremely high volume level to a cover performance of Iron Maiden’s Flight of Icarus (ironic title) by a band named White Wizard (song here)… Maybe Stretch’s singing can be repeated later with another listen to this tune at home. No sooner had the bus pulled into the driveway at Bay Street than a gaggle of ladies walking by caused a stir in the doggies and a cacophony of barks and chirps overtook the chauffeur. Upon exiting the bus, the ladies were enthralled and pleaded to meet Stretch… a request that was promptly obliged to coos and smiles galore. The commotion caught the attention of Stretch’s mommy and a fun conversation ensued before the true reunion began.
The crew was clearly happy to be home and back with their mommy and sister… the chauffeur had a wonderful time hearing about the adventures in Montana and spending time with the ladies of Bay Street… he left with a smile, and also a little mist.
